BEKO - basketball and referees sponsor

This year’s Basketball Referees Camp, that took place in Kraków was strongly supported by company BEKO which sponsored the event. We could see BEKO on referees shirts and around all courts.

There were also two main prizes in shooting competitions which were, of course, BEKO washing machines.

Ronnie Nunn at the camp in Poland!

Ronnie Nunn at the camp in Poland!

Finals in NBA are about to finish. Soon we will know the new NBA Champion. We watch games, but what we check as referees is officiating. Who of us would not like to be there… We have fantastic news for you. This year NBA is coming to Poland!!

Ronnie Nunn, the NBA’s Director of Referees Development, former Director of Officials in the best world league of basketball is going to be our special guest during the Referees Camp in Katowice.
Ronnie will give us his great knowledge during the lectures and will help with queries in the court during practical training. Every day of the camp we can count on his strong experience to support our personal development.

Due to what I know from organizer of the camp, Mr. Nunn is very excited to meet with you, young, potential group of referees, teach and advise you to help to achieve next levels in officiating.

He can not wait to see you all guys and have a piece of hard work on referee’s stuff. As Kuba said, Ronnie is very excited, he is asking about camp and some details.

2009 Referee.pl Camp invitation

Dear Referees Friends,

We come to you with great news – very soon we can all meet again during the sixth edition of our camp. This year Basketball Referee’s Camp will take place between 25 - 28 of June in Katowice, Poland (venue of the Final Round of Eurobasket 2009 which will be played on Septemeber 2009) .

Just Like Today

How they started… - instructors for Referee.pl

Every year we are coming to camp to get some knowledge, to stay in shape with rules, interpretations, to meet people and talk about the thing, which is connecting us all – basketball.
But as far as we are there to learn something new we need somebody to guide us. That is why we have our instructors for.

Don’t think they always knew what they know now… They started the same as every one of you. Let’s go back in the past and see how they manage in the court then…:)

Starting: Carl Jungebrand, Costas Rigas, Lubo Kotleba

Peter Strikwerda - Supervisor from Netherlands

We are pleased to welcome on our camp supervisor from Netherlands – Peter Strikwerda, who is coming as an observer to see how we work with referees and help with his knowledge in development of campers.

Peter Strikwerda was playing in national men top division before he started his career as a referee in national level in 1991. Unluckily eight years after he needed to finish because of injury. He didn’t stop being involved in basketball.

Costas Rigas at the camp!

Again this year we are very pleased to guest the Director of the Euroleague referee’sCotas Rigas, who confirmed his presence directly from Final Four in Madrid.

Mr. Rigas will be with us all days during the camp and will have lectures. He is a great person and has a lot of knowledge to give to our campers. We are very happy that he can come this year too.

Among the 23 big finals officiated we have to mention the Los Angeles Olympic Games Men’s Final in 1984 and Barcelona Olympics Women’s Final in 1992.

New Audio System for campers

For the first time in history of our camp we will use special device to help our campers in communication with observer.

The Audio System will connect camper who is refereeing in the court with instructor that is watching his game. So any instructions or notices can be directly said in the moment.

We are sure this will help our campers to develop their skills in the court, because progress is the reason we are there.

Euroleague top referee as an instructor at the camp

We would like to present to you another of our instructors for the camp, Romualdas Brazauskas. We met Mr. Brazauskas at the first camp in Poland which took place in 2004 in Bydgoszcz.

”One of the best referees in this modern basketball era has to be Romualdas Brazauskas, who started his career in 1973 and became international in 1987. Brazauskas has taken part in three Olympic Games, calling the 2000 final in Sydney, Australia. Two world championships and several EuroBaskets are other highlights, but Brazauskas is already a Euroleague classic. He has been in 9 Euroleague Final Fours, refereeing 5 title games in 1997, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2005. Brazauskas is possibly the best Lithuanian referee of all-time.”
