It is a clear foul but not a fragrant one, therefore a normal foul should be called on the defence (and possibly a warning to play the ball).

Surely the referee should give a warning to the offence, because the reaction is not equal to the foul.

- tactic foul(s) n°20 then n°44 red (guess n°20 - camera angle, can not clearly see if n° 20 touches the offensive player)
- tactic fouls must be called
- over reaction white player
- position referee - must be closer on transition and close defense, (from the camera angle, I can not see, if he had a good view of the complete action and who made the first tactic foul)
- if n°20 did the first foul, the referee could not see,
long distance - guess on n° 44

The time of the 3rd quarter is running out. The red team wants to stop the clock to prevent the white team from taking a good shot. They are not is a teamfoul-penalt y situation so they foul the white dribbler (Spanoulis).
The decision looks correct, there is no reason to call unsportsmanlike foul.
However the trail referee seems to be to far away, especially as this an end of period situtation where all three referees must be fully concentrated.
During play, Spanoulis overreacts by offensive flopping in order to draw an unsportsmanlike foul. After the call he complains by using visible bodylanguage. Spanoulis should be warned for flopping.

That's definitely not a legitimate attempt to directly play the ball, therefore we should consider calling an unsportsmanlike faul. Spanoulis initiates a fast break, a good promising attack and red '44' decides to stop it with a faul. There's nothing wrong in good 'tactical' faul, but he is already behind the offensive player, doesn't even have a chance to play the ball and makes no effort to play the ball. He grabs a hip of the offensive player, mainly because he can't reach anything else. Spanoulis' reaction is obviously exaggerated, though it shouldn't alter our decision on the contact itself. My decision: unsportsmanlike faul and unofficial warning for Spanoulis to make sure he doesn't keep on 'helping' us with the decisions the way he did.

Nr.44 Red has not the chance to play the ball, so for me it's and U foul.
The reaction of Nr.7 White is not motived bu the action of the opponent. It's not a fair play behaviour; so for me it's an official warning for acting.
The trail referee is too far away, there are too many players in front of the center to make and help call, maybe in that case a guess call from the trail.

Trial referee finished quarter before it ends. He should be closer to game and concentrated to the final signal.
-defensive foul
-warning for acting.

Bad position from the T-ref. He needs to be closer. He seems to notice as he tries to make up for this after calling the foul. It is a foul from red 44 but there is no need for 7 white to act that theatrical and exaggerated. He should get a warning for this.

We have 3 -4 seconds to end of quarter. CSKA have 3 or less fouls. They want stop fastbreak but defender doesn't have chance to play the ball. Unsportsmanlike foul.
Trail ref should be closer the action.

Red 44 doesn't want to play the ball. Unsportsmanlike foul. Unofficiale warning for white player. Trail referee should be closer to the action.

For me this is an unsportsmanlike foul and i think that the trail referee should be in better position, closer to the place where the foul occured and an unofficiale warning should be given to white player.

It's unsportsmanlike faul. Player didn't want to play the ball. Trail schould be closer to action.

This is an unsportsmantlik e foul. Red 44 player is trying to stop the clock stopping the offender and not play defense to take the ball.
White 7 player add to this some acting skills so he should be warned.
Call should be made by Trail.

I would give the defensive player un unsportsmanlike foul, because the defenser grabs the player from behind and he dosn't care about the ball, only the man.
However, the advenced referee as not the hability the analyse the moment because he didnt keep up with the play.

Ok, so this topic we should discuss at the camp for sure! Lets think when we should call unsportsmanlike foul... Also we need to talk about fakes and flops.. So if you have any similar clips bring it to the camp for the video session when we we will talk about those topics!

It is a defensive foul with a warning for the roughness of the foul.
the trial referee should be closer to the play. Maybe also a warning to the offensive player for flop because the reaction doesn't match with the foul.

Taking into consideration remaining time, the clip gets very interesting. In my opinion, a personal foul should be called by T-ref and unofficial warning to the offensive player given.
Michał Sosin

In my opinion it is holding foul.
The circumstances which decide of this call are time of the game, quarter and result.
Besides, offensive player is theatrically overacting.

In my opinion it is normal defensive foul. Referee should give a warning to the offence nr. 7, because it is acting.

Hi everybody,

For me : Unsporstmanlike foul because the defensive player makes no effort to play the ball.
The ref should have been closer but he controled very well the end of the play.

I think its a tactic foul for red 44. But due to acting of a white 7 it seems that the contact is to rough, So there should be an official warning for coach of white team!
Adam Wierzman

My decision:
U foul for red 44 + warning for white 7.
Red 44 made no effort to play the ball.
"Tactical foul" must be a smart foul. In this situation it is not.
White 7 overreacted - should have been warned.
Michał Gąsiński

In my opinion it is normal faul - holding # 44 after call official warning fot # 7
Radosław Szagun

When we have this kind of situations, we should take into consideration the criterias. The rule says:

"If a player is making no effort to play the ball and contact occurs, it is an unsportsmanlike foul."So that's the answer, i think.

But on this clip the offensive player seems to be a bigger problem. His behaviour stirs up the fans, it is not the fair play game. Referees should be restrictive and punish the offensive player. In my opinion, official warning is enough.
Michał Pietrakiewicz

In my opinion unsportsmanlike foul. Defensive player didn't want play the ball, he wanted stop the clock. It was a big advantage for a red team.

Normal foul, warning for overreacting of the off player
Takaki Kato
#29 Takaki Kato 2013-08-24 17:50
Normal foul.
But officials have to recognize that there was a possibility that led to dangerous situation.
Because defensive player didn't play to the ball and offensive player knew it.

Also when time is so close to the end of the quarter/ normal personal foul/off. player should be warned about flopping during the quarter break
